New Guttmann center
The new Guttmann Barcelona Center will significantly increase the city's existing healthcare provision.
The new building houses two different and disruptive initiatives that are a step further in the provision of services for people with disabilities: on the one hand, the Guttmann Barcelona Life apartments, which are fully adapted and automated to promote independent living; and on the other, the Brain Health Institute, which aims to provide the most advanced clinical knowledge and techniques available in the world today to offer its patients the best and most effective diagnosis and specialized treatment of neurological diseases and their effects on the functionality of the people who have them.
The Brain Health Institute includes the Guttmann, NeuroPersonalClínic®, a gym highly specialized in neurorehabilitation equipped with the latest technologies and the most innovative therapies.
The new center is on the site of the former Guttmann Institute hospital which opened in 1965.
The current building has almost 17.000 m2 over five floors including the apartments and the NeuroPersonalClínic®; some 3.700 m2 are set aside as parking spaces for users.
