Extension of the wastewater treatment plant in Vila-seca Salou

  • Tarragona

The current WWTP (wastewater treatment plant) in Vila-Seca and Salou is designed to serve a population of 193,000 inhabitants with a flow rate of 47,500 m3/day.
Planned urban growth in the area and the rise in demand for higher quality treated water have made it necessary to expand the plant, increasing its treatment capacity to 60,500 m3/day with a flow rate of 15,000 m3/day free of nutrients for tertiary treatment, serving a population of around 316,000 equivalent inhabitants.
Wastewater gets to the current plant via six pumping stations.
