Torito hydroelectric project

  • Costa Rica

This plant is on the right bank of the Reventazón River and  generates 50 megawatts of power, bringing Costa Rica another step towards its goal of achieving 100% renewable energy production by 2021.

Copisa’s most important contributions to the project include the construction of the water intake, the construction of a water loading chamber fitting up to 125,000 cubic meters, the assembly of large-diameter steel tanks and tubing, and the construction of the building housing the machine room, which is 40 meters tall.

The electrical substation measures 6,600 square meters in area and has a control building where the voltage is stepped up.
