Remodeling Paral·lel Avenue
-
Barcelona
The project is on Paral·lel Avenue in Barcelona and involves remodeling the Avenue and the areas where it meets the neighborhoods that converge on it (Ciutat Vella, Eixample, and Sants-Montjuïc). The bike lane is implemented along its entire length but the other actions are limited to the section between Lleida-Tamarit and Ronda Sant Pau-Nou de la Rambla streets.
Areas of action:
• Bike lane and central area: the bike lane is located slightly off centre in the street allowing for a buffer strip of green parterre on the Poble Sec side measuring 1.50 m.
• Ends of the Avenue
• Espanya Square-Fira end: expansion and remodeling of the pavements near Espanya Square
• Drassanes end: link with the port via the roundabout in Drassanes Square
• Squares: action in six areas of action at the intersection of Paral·lel and the streets of Eixample. These spaces allow these areas to be viewed as squares.
• Corners in Poble Sec: paving where the south sidewalk of Paral·lel meets the streets in Poble Sec that are not part of the primary road network in order to form areas on corners that have no parked vehicles and are available for recreational use by pedestrians.
• Upgrading sidewalks, adding dropped curbs for pedestrians and work on sidewalks for utility and services trenches.
• New lighting and support for communications right along Paral·lel.
