Construction of the Facultats underground substation
-
Barcelona
The Facultats electricity substation is in the University area of Barcelona. It is a large-scale underground project with a rectangular net floor area of 64,60×30,60 m² (1.976,76 m²) over four levels: the lowest level at an absolute elevation of 40,82 m, the GIS room at 44,80, control room at 49,95 and the slightly variable roof at 56,00.
Main facilities:
Drainage: pumping station for sewage and rainwater from drains (cleaning, maintenance, firefighting, etc.) on the lowest floor, in the general sewage chamber.
Electricity: The building will have a mains supply system. This will be provided via a three-phase 400/230 V connection from a company transformer station.
Earth network: Its purpose is to limit the voltage to earth that may appear in metal ground connections due to an insulation fault (contact voltage).
HVAC: As this building is totally underground, forced ventilation is planned for all rooms, especially the transformer rooms where ventilation is based on a scale linked to the evacuation of heat from the room in addition to the air generation scale.
Water mist network: Fitting a new system of firefighting water pipes to supply water mist to the transformer rooms and medium-voltage cabinets. The fire water tank will always be kept full by means of a float valve/solenoid valve.
