Zaragoza
The project includes the full restoration of the Paraninfo Building at the University of Zaragoza. On the exterior the brick façades will be cleaned, the metalwork will be replaced, the perimeter stone and wrought iron fencing will be restored and the paving replaced. A new plant room is also being built under the current parking area.
Inside, a new basement will be excavated in the only wing which had one, partition walls will be demolished to give the basement a new layout to adapt it to new needs, and flooring and cladding will be replaced.
Interior woodwork will be changed or restored, depending on its value and condition. On the first floor, new layouts will be made in the large existing rooms using wood-lined partition walls and glazed areas. The furniture in the main hall will be replaced to meet new ergonomic and comfort requirements.
In terms of structures, some of the metal slabs and beams will be reinforced, and there will be a new metal structure and composite slab system for the ceiling of the new basement and in two mezzanines in the corner modules. The existing stairs leading to the observation tower will be demolished and replaced by others which will be accessed from the ground floor, creating a new route between the ground and first floors.
